How I work.

Combining somatic psychotherapy, creative expression and nature-based practice, with a background of clinical training and experience

Recent work

Until recently (2026) I have been providing psychotherapy and counselling, as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. This practice (in Northcote, Naarm) took a focus on complex trauma and post-traumatic growth. Strong common themes also included moving towards authenticity and reconnecting with the body.

To accompany my Masters in Social Work, I completed professional training in Hakomi and Sensorimotor Art Therapy. I undertook a personal and vocational journey of how to integrate mindfulness-based and somatic modalities into clinical practice. You might check out my previous website for a sense of this.

While many themes and modalities from this chapter will carry forward, the format and focus is shifting. Growth and evolution is our natural state.

Current work

In this new chapter I aim to explore ideas around connection and reciprocity with our natural environment, as a pathway for mutual wellbeing.

I don’t believe we can convincingly attend to individual mental health without acknowledging, if not ideally attending to, the state of the natural world. This idea is not new, we luckily have many wisdom-keepers to call on in this work.

I aim for offerings to evolve over time. Consistent themes will include:

  • Calling on the core principles of the Hakomi method

  • Expressive arts- Art has played a central role for humans expressing their place in the world for as long as we have been human

  • I recognise that dreams have corrective wisdom and so have an important role. I am also super excited in the idea of animist dreamwork, and the Soulcraft approach

  • Clay has been an option in my sessions for many years. I hope to keep expanding this…

  • Core values - a respect for people’s inherent dignity, authenticity and integrity, meeting joy and despair with equal expansiveness, compassion for you, me and the apparent ‘other’

Incubating:

  • Longer format sessions and rituals

  • Practical care for natural spaces, including waterways and habitat conservation

  • Group workshops and series

  • Outdoor clay work

  • Downloadable resources for home-practice

  • Collaboration with inspiring people and programs - artists, environmentalists and more

What might bring you to these sessions

Themes and goals which might align:

  • Grief and loss

  • Existential concerns

  • Loneliness/confusion/stuckness

  • Attention caught by dreams/nightmares

  • Improving emotion regulation

  • Engaging more fully with life

  • Seeking authenticity

  • Finding one’s purpose

  • Listening to body wisdom

Seeking nature connection:

  • You are already in deep connection with the natural world and want to keep your growth-journey deeply rooted here

  • You feel actively called to re-connect with nature

  • You worry about our world and feel called to:

o   grieve deeply

o   distil your unique contribution

o   constructively channel your rage

  • An interest in wildlife conservation and or love of rivers and creeks

  • You’re not sure what you need… but feel depleted and disconnected. These are clues.

Spiritual or soul emergence:

  • You’re sensing a spiritual emergence, or soul-calling

  • You’re experiencing a spiritual emergency, maybe presenting as a crisis, but with deep wisdom beneath:

    • nightmares/poor sleep

    • burn-out

    • interruptive illness

    • psychedelic ‘bad trip’

    • extreme states (sometimes referred to as psychosis)

    • panic attacks and perpetual un-groundedness

    • pervasive numbness/confusion/existential angst

  • You may have a beautiful dream you’ve never felt confident to bring into the world, but it keeps tugging at your sleeve [also treat yourself by reading children’s book “Maybe”]

You may just feel a resonance …. I’d love to meet you in that.
